Health Apps Self-Assessment Tool
Discover, try and evaluate the web-based version of the Australian Health Apps Self-Assessment Checklist.
About This Tool
What This tool is a web-based demo version of the Health App Self-Assessment Checklist (the Checklist).
Audience and Purpose It is intended to be used as a self-assessment checklist to assist Health App developers in designing and/or self-assessing the quality and safety of their Health Apps against the criteria identified under the 2025 Australian Health Apps Assessment Revised Framework (the Framework) across 5 domains: Acceptability & culture; Safety & trustworthiness; Usability, equity & inclusion; Privacy & security; Technical & quality.
Developers are encouraged to complete this checklist prior to designing their Health Apps and use it as an educational tool in conjunction with the published Revised Framework and Guidance Document throughout the design and development process. The checklist is not intended to be used by an external person or consumer to review an App as not all required information would be available to them.
This checklist is provided as a guide only; compliance with all sections of the checklist does not guarantee that your App is compliant with national standards or applicable regulatory requirements (see Disclaimer).
Scope The checklist is applicable to the development and assessment of all Health Apps that:
- are intended to be available in Australia.
- have a goal of supporting preventative healthcare and/or improving health and wellness in users.
Features This tool does not save data and rather is designed so that each Domain should be entered in one session. At the end of the completion of a specific Domain the entered details can be saved or printed locally as a PDF or HTML file.
Feedback Your feedback is welcomed on the usability and utility of this tool. You can provide your feedback by responding to this short survey: Feedback Survey
Your Data Privacy
No data is stored on our servers. All your assessment responses are processed entirely in your current browser session and are not sent to AIDH. Reports are generated locally and you can download them directly to your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any information about your App or your assessment responses.
Web-tool analytics: We will collect and analyse anonymous usage analytics, such as page visits, interactions and report generation, to evaluate how the tool is used and inform future improvements.
Important: As your responses are stored temporarily in your current browser session, they will be cleared when you close the browser and/or refresh the page. Generate and download your reports before ending the session.
